PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This activity features education regarding the links between obesity and diabetes, the role of the incretin system in these metabolic disorders, and use of incretin therapies to manage diabetes-related obesity.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Determine which patients with T2DM are poised to benefit from earlier treatment intensification to achieve optimal glycemic and metabolic outcomes
- Assess the safety, efficacy, and mechanisms of GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonists
- Explain the potential role of GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonists in the treatment of patients with T2DM
- Implement a shared decision making approach to help patients with T2DM achieve and maintain weight loss for more optimal outcomes
