PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This activity is designed to help healthcare professionals overcome clinical inertia and psychological barriers to insulin use in patients with type 2 diabetes. It explores practical approaches to integrating basal insulin therapy, including considerations for mechanistic differences, time in range, and glycemic variability. The program also examines current guidelines and best practices for timely treatment intensification in high-risk patients to support improved long-term outcomes.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians, internal medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, certified diabetes care and education specialists/nurses, new residents and fellows, managed care professionals, and patients in the United States (US) with interest in optimizing management of T2DM.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, attendees will have improved ability to:
· Identify factors that contribute to clinical inertia, including psychological insulin resistance, and how to address these barriers in clinical management of patients with T2DM
· Integrate BI therapies along with considerations for mechanistic characteristics, TIR, and glycemic variability to inform treatment strategies
· Apply guidelines to select and appropriately intensify BI therapy for high-risk populations with T2DM
