This online activity will look at chronic hypercholesterolemia as a pathogenic factor in cardiovascular disease. The talk will assess hypotheses in atherosclerotic plaque formation and discuss the implications of residual cardiovascular risk in patients intolerant to statins or on maximally-tolerated statin doses.
This activity is intended for interventional cardiologists involved in the management of patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to hypercholesterolemia.
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Review the role of chronic hypercholesterolemia in the pathogenesis of atherosclerotic cardiovascular lesions
- Explain the mechanisms of action of cholesterol-lowering agents in the management of patients
