PROGRAM OVERVIEW
MedGames is a comprehensive and interactive gamification-based CME activity that presents important topics in the area of diabetic kidney disease in a fun and engaging manner. The program includes ~40 minutes of slide-based material interspersed with several interactive questions and case studies to enhance learning. The focus is on kidney disease in the diabetic patient, specifically mechanisms of disease, diagnosis and evaluation, and therapeutic options. This program is hosted by Ken Jennings, the new host of a popular game show, and features Richard Pratley, MD, an expert in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of DKD.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians, nephrologists, cardiologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and pharmacist to ensure recognition of CKD risk in patients with T2D and novel strategies for modifying CKD risk and the risk of other chronic complications of T2D.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Summarize the mechanistic features of novel mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists that differentiate therapies from earlier agents in this class
- Assess CKD risk in patients with T2D and clinical data with novel mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists to manage the risk of renal deterioration
- Develop strategies for the management of hyperkalemia in patients receiving mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists
