PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This Whiteboard ECHO TeleECHO Series program explores the shared immunologic underpinnings of obesity and immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs), highlighting key cytokines and signaling pathways that drive chronic inflammation and comorbid pathology. Attendees will review current obesity guidelines and supporting evidence to inform integrated care strategies for patients with IMIDs and excess body weight. Emphasis will be placed on building and sustaining multidisciplinary teams that align specialties to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This educational activity is intended for rheumatologists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists, and related advanced practice providers who care for patients with obesity and IMIDs.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Describe the immune messengers common to both obesity and IMIDs and their resultant corresponding pathologies
- Incorporate obesity treatment guideline recommendations and their supporting data into the management of patients with both IMIDs and excess body weight
- Develop and maintain a collaborative multidisciplinary team to optimize care for the patient with IMIDs and obesity
