PROGRAM OVERVIEW
In this interactive, case-based educational activity, faculty will explore diagnosis and differentiation of idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) and narcolepsy, assess available treatment options for each condition, evaluate the cardiovascular consequences of sleep disorders and their therapies, and discuss strategies to enhance shared decision-making and multidisciplinary collaboration in managing sleep disorders.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This educational activity is designed to meet the needs of sleep medicine specialists, neurologists, and their associated advanced practice providers, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants, who manage patients with idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) and narcolepsy.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Evaluate best practices for differential diagnosis of IH and narcolepsy to facilitate prompt and accurate identification
- Summarize efficacy and safety considerations relevant to the development of personalized treatment plans in patients with IH and narcolepsy mindful of baseline cardiovascular risk
- Integrate shared decision-making and multidisciplinary approaches to care for patients with IH and narcolepsy
