PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This immersive CME experience guides learners through the evolving science and clinical management of narcolepsy. The program begins with identification of narcolepsy, reviewing essential criteria, testing, and distinguishing features that support accurate classification. The program then explores how selective loss of orexin-producing neurons disrupts sleep–wake stability, establishing orexin deficiency as the core driver of narcolepsy type 1. Finally, the program examines current guideline-supported therapies alongside emerging, mechanism-based treatments that target orexin signaling. Through interactive VR environments, clinicians gain practical, evidence-aligned strategies to optimize care for individuals living with narcolepsy.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with narcolepsy, including neurologists, sleep specialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Summarize the role of orexin deficiency in the pathophysiology of narcolepsy.
- Describe the criteria for the diagnosis of narcolepsy.
- Evaluate current and emerging therapies and guideline recommendations for narcolepsy management
