PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This enduring activity will address methodology to specifically support healthcare professionals charged with the care of pediatric patients with influenza so that they can better expedite an accurate influenza diagnosis, evaluate and appropriately incorporate antiviral agents for the pediatric population inclusive of postexposure prophylaxis, and recognize the full range of therapeutic tools at their disposal to care for pediatric patients.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for US-based pediatricians, family practice physicians, primary care physicians, internists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners involved in the diagnosis and management of patients with influenza.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Facilitate a timely and accurate diagnosis of influenza in pediatric patients through the use of point-of-care testing methodologies
- Evaluate the mechanisms of action and clinical profiles of antiviral agents approved for the treatment of influenza in pediatric patients
- Incorporate evidence-based guidance for the selection of antiviral agents for pediatric patients with influenza into clinical practice
- Assess the results of studies supporting the use of antiviral treatments for influenza postexposure prophylaxis in pediatric patients
