Learning Objectives
After completing the CME activity, learners should be better able to:
- Assess the increased renal and CVD risks for patients with DKD that arise from pathophysiological mechanisms underlying CKD
- Specify the drivers of CKD progression in patients with DKD including inflammation, fibrosis and activation of MRs
- Facilitate earlier diagnosis of DKD through the use of evidence-based guideline screening assessments, for CKD in the primary care setting
- Evaluate data from recent clinical trials investigating renoprotective agents for the treatment of DKD
- Recommend hyperkalemia risk mitigation strategies for patients with DKD receiving MRA therapy
TARGET AUDIENCE
This educational activity is designed for primary care clinicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals with an interest in the management of patients with DKD.
