MODULE 2: The Mechanism of Action of Emerging Monoclonal Antibodies and Vaccines for COVID-19
Shyam Kottilil MD, PhD
Professor of Medicine
Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases
Institute of Human Virology
University of Maryland
This COVID-19 FRONTLINE Whiteboard series will explore the role of emerging monoclonal antibody therapies and vaccines in managing the COVID-19 pandemic. Each module will focus on clinical trial data and aid clinicians in identifying patients who would benefit from therapy.
In this module, we will review the mechanism of action of monoclonal antibody therapies and vaccines for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19, and assess the efficacy and safety of these emerging therapies.
The innovative continuing education and tools developed form COVID-19 FRONTLINE will be publicly available for the entire healthcare community to use. The whiteboard micro-learning modules will primarily target frontline doctors, such as emergency physicians, urgent care physicians, and intensive care physicians, with a secondary audience of primary care and family physicians.
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Provide HCPs improved educational tools for patients on the difference between a vaccine for disease prevention and the use of monoclonal antibody therapies for prevention and/or treatment of COVID-19.
