PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This “Day in the Life” Docuseries program explores the shared immunologic mechanisms underlying obesity and immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs), such as inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, and psoriatic arthritis. It highlights the key cytokines and signaling pathways that drive chronic inflammation and contribute to comorbid pathology. Attendees will review current obesity guidelines and supporting evidence to inform integrated care strategies for patients with IMIDs and excess body weight. Special emphasis is placed on building and sustaining multidisciplinary teams that bring together specialties to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care. The program also provides a unique opportunity to hear the patient’s perspective on their disease journey, as well as insights from a physician sharing clinical strategies successfully implemented to manage these disease symptoms.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This educational activity is intended for rheumatologists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists, and related advanced practice providers who care for patients with obesity and IMIDs.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Describe the immune messengers common to both obesity and IMIDs and their resultant corresponding pathologies
- Incorporate obesity treatment guideline recommendations and their supporting data into the management of patients with both IMIDs and excess body weight
- Develop and maintain a collaborative multidisciplinary team to optimize care for the patient with IMIDs and obesity
