PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This symposium will provide a practical overview of early detection and disease‑modifying therapies across the type 1 diabetes (T1D) continuum, featuring expert faculty insights alongside a powerful patient perspective. Faculty will discuss current evidence and guidelines for identifying at‑risk individuals, applying therapies that can delay disease progression, as well as exploring emerging strategies to preserve beta‑cell function in new‑onset T1D.
Key Topics include:
- Evidence‑based approaches to screening and early detection
- Practical considerations for implementing disease‑modifying therapies in presymptomatic T1D
- Emerging strategies to preserve beta‑cell function in new‑onset T1D
- A patient perspective offering real‑world context on challenges and decision-making
- Interactive, case‑based discussions that translate evidence to practice
Designed to be engaging and clinically relevant, this program equips participants with actionable insights to improve care throughout the T1D continuum.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
After completing the CME activity, learners should be better able to:
- Implement risk-based screening approaches to facilitate timely identification of presymptomatic T1D.
- Analyze T1D screening results to determine disease stage and inform appropriate monitoring and referral decisions.
- Develop individualized treatment strategies that incorporate disease-modifying therapies to delay T1D progression in eligible patients.
- Recognize the importance of beta-cell preservation on T1D prognosis and outcomes.
- Review emerging approaches aimed at beta cell preservation & their potential future application in new-onset T1D
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of multidisciplinary clinicians who refer, treat or see patients with or at high risk for T1D is needed, including primary care clinicians, pediatricians, pediatric & adult endocrinologists, diabetes educators, infusion professionals and other allied healthcare professionals.
