PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This CME program, developed for sleep medicine clinicians, focuses on improving the timely and accurate diagnosis of narcolepsy type 1 (NT1). Learners will strengthen their ability to apply AASM diagnostic criteria together with clinical history, polysomnography (PSG), and multiple sleep latency testing (MSLT) data to reduce misdiagnosis and shorten the time to NT1 identification. The program also equips clinicians to overcome referral barriers and integrate evidence on current and emerging narcolepsy therapies to optimize individualized treatment selection.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of healthcare providers certified in sleep medicine, such as neurologists, psychiatrists, pulmonologists, and primary care physicians.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Integrate AASM diagnostic criteria and clinical history, PSG, and MSLT findings to reduce misdiagnosis and shorten time to NT1 diagnosis
- Implement strategies to overcome barriers to timely diagnosis and referral for NT1
- Apply clinical data for current and emerging therapies for narcolepsy to optimize individualized treatment selection
