LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Review the short- and long-term consequences of hypoglycemia as it relates to patients and providers.
  • Determine how various insulin formulations may increase or decrease the risk of hypoglycemia.
  • Discuss approaches to assessing the risk of symptomatic and asymptomatic hypoglycemia in individual patients.
  • Evaluate non-pharmacological strategies for minimizing the risk of hypoglycemia.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This educational activity is intended for primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, certified diabetes educators and other HCPs who care for patients with diabetes.

AOA ACCREDITATION STATEMENT

The AOA Bureau of OMED is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. The AOA Bureau of OMED, as a co-sponsor with Med Learning Group, designates this live program for a maximum of 2.0 AOA Category 2-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participant in this activity.
